Dr. Chen has had many years’ R&D experiences in both industrial and academic areas in the field of magnetic materials and their applications since 1980.
She worked at University of Dayton as a professor in Dept. of Chemical and Materials Engineering, guiding PhD & Master's graduate students, teaching magnetic related courses. She also worked at Magnetics Lab as a senior researcher and then the Lab leader.
She worked at GE Global as a Senior Materials Engineer at GE Global Research. She had also worked for 9 years at EEC (Electron Energy Corporation) as the Director of Process Technology.
She was the Principal Investigator for many research programs, which resulted in patented commercial products and many publications in various professional journals.
In addition to the R&D on magnetic materials, her experiences also include designs & computer modeling for electromagnetic devices.
Chen has been a chairperson for many International Magnetic Conferences and Workshops since 2000.
